There’s about five weeks to go till Christmas, so we think it’s okay to start getting a bit excited. Just to help get in the mood, here’s a round-up of Christmas events happening across the Thanet region in the next couple of weeks:
Birchington Christmas event
Saturday 27 November from 12-6pm with ice skating rink and Santa’s Grotto. There’s a parade through the town, live music, chestnuts & mulled wine.
Quexmas Christmas Craft Fayre
Sunday 28 November from 11am-5pm. Free entry – local produce, crafts and festive goodies.
Northdown Road Christmas lights switch on
Thursday 2 December, between 5pm and 6pm at St Paul’s Church
Margate Christmas event
Friday 3 December from 5pm: a parade, festive entertainment & market.
St Peter’s Christmas lights switch on
Friday 3 December, from 5pm with carol singing, mince pies and mulled wine as well as the new St Peter’s Christmas lights being switched on.
Westgate Christmas event
Saturday 4 December with Father Christmas, music from EK1, dance, fire eaters, mulled wine, roast chestnuts, fun fair rides and more! [Although the 'more' is unspecified and we suspect the use of the exclamation mark is actually a diversion]
Broadstairs Christmas Extravaganza – the big one
Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 December in Broadstairs.
Saturday: Ice Rink, Treasure Hunt
Sunday: Ice Rink, Santa’s Grotto, treasure hunt, entertainment, Christmas parade and lights switch-on. Call 07925 185052 for further information.
Ramsgate Christmas Extravaganza
Saturday 11 December, Charlotte Square, between 10am-4.30pm: Santa Grotto, Craft market, Salvation army band and entertainment
Other Thanety entertainments
Christmas fair at Margate Adult Education Centre, Hawley Square: 10am to 2pm on Saturday, 4 December. Tombola, games, make your own christmas decorations, bric a brac, crafts, cakes etc
Tudor House Christmas in Margate on first two weekends in December
Santa at the Shell Grotto, Margate on the three weekends in December
Santa’s Parlour at Crampton Tower Museum in Broadstairs
Carol singing at the Fayreness, Kingsgate on Tuesday 14 December at 7pm
