Biscuit controversy

Sunday, August 1st, 2010

The Thanet Gannet’s Biscuit World Cup (BWC) will open tomorrow with a cracking head-to-head between Jammie Dodgers and Jaffa Cakes, though the pedants among you will no doubt be questioning the legitimacy of Jaffa Cakes’ place in a biscuit-related competition. Nonetheless, despite the ruling by Her Majesty’s Custom and Excise that Jaffa Cakes are not actually biscuits, tournament organisers are hoping that the controversy will not mar the competition.

Elsewhere in the draw, all-time classics Garibaldi go mano a mano with Custard Creams while two highly fancied contenders in Chocolate Hob Nobs and Digestives find themselves facing one another in what will no doubt be a crunch match.

The winner of the Jammie Dodger / Jaffa Cake dunk-off is likely to face Milk Chocolate Digestives who find themselves pitted against the unfancied Party Rings in tomorrow’s second match.

You can catch all the stories and results from the competition throughout the week on IsleOne, the website that really takes the biscuit.

Ginger Nuts are strong contenders though it has to be said they are not everyone’s cup of tea.
