Dumpton Gap Contemporary

Dumpton Gap.

I’ll just say that again.

Dumpton Gap.

Say it out loud yourself. Some days in the IsleOne offices we just can’t stop saying Dumpton Gap out loud. It doesn’t sound like a place, more like a condition.

But Dumpton Gap (Dumpton Gap) is now heading upmarket. Its beach kiosk has undergone a swish new refurb and features stainless steel counters and stools (stools!). It’s even got an inside bit. The whole structure, in fact, is curiously reminiscent of Turner Contemporary.

And that was the point, if you can call it a point, of this entire article. To establish a tenuous link between the appearance of a beach kiosk and an art gallery. We can only apologise for wasting your time.

Hmmmmmmmmmm I once made the effort to go to The Gap which is as I am told by the hip how it is described in cool speak. And I will go again sometime not to try its culinary delights of which I am sure there are many, but to view some of the flint formations embedded in the tremendous chalk cliffs. No doubt when I have had my fill of rock lines trapped in chalk I shall need some refreshment and partake in the vittels and a brew of the Beach Kiiosk that is Ramsgates answer to Margates fantastic art gallery the Turner Contemporary. Does that help at all

    Don, that helps immeasurably.

You might (or might not) be interested to know that my daughter and I walked all the way around Thanet reviewing all the beach cafes. Most are pretty average.

Indeed, the results were so incendiary that I abandoned the plan to allow her lulu book to be publicly available.

    Nuff said.
