Ramsgate Summer Squall
Ramsgate Arts’ second Summer Squall takes place Saturday 27th to Monday 29th August with over 70 activities across the weekend, including theatre, music, art, and dance.
There’s a range of talks, from archaeology to wallpaper design, a heritage-themed treasure hunt, a writing competition and, surely pick of the bunch, the show you never thought would get made (or simply never thought of at all): Sing-Along-A-Wicker-Man.
There’s stuff for children, stuff for adults and stuff for everyone throughout Ramsgate. The Winterstoke Pavilion Garden is staging theatre and the Sailors’ Church is hosting talks. The Open Studios event even spreads out beyond Ramsgate with artists exhibiting work on Saturday and Sunday in Broadstairs and Margate.
There’s a specially created exhibition by the Royal College of Art and visits from Weapons of Sound – an eco junk band (like you even know what that is), the Vintage Mobile Cinema, Dr Bramwell, the Dead Poets, Mark Grist, MCMixy, the Fool Effect… The list goes on.
You can get full details from the Ramsgate Arts website. Last year’s event attracted thousands of people to Ramsgate – it’s one of the highlights of the year.
