Neighbourhoods and neighbourliness

What are these people up to? Hmm? Off out on the rob perhaps?

No. The image is actually supposed to convey neighbourhoods and neighbourliness, which uncoincidentally is the title of a talk coming up at everyone’s favourite multi-million pound art gallery, Turner Contemporary.

But what’s the talk about, I hear you gasp with excitement. Well, I’ll tell you… Once I clarify the whole thing with the press office.

Okay, back now,  and I can tell you that the talk is actually a discussion on how artists are working less inside their galleries and more outside with communities. The whole thing is lead by Ana Laura López de La Torre, Sophie Hope and Sepake Angiama, who are all experienced in working on projects with local communities, and it’s intended to stimulate ideas on how artists interact with the public and all that schmozzle.

The talk is aimed at anyone working in the arts, or who works within different communities, or anyone involved in education, or in fact anyone who comes into contact with people on a day-to-day basis. And, let’s face it, that’s most of us.

So maybe you should pop along. It’s a good chance to meet the team at Turner Contemporary, talk to some people outside the area on issues that are relevant to the area and, at the very least, it’ll keep you off the rob for an evening.

It’s on 18th November and you can find out more on TC’s website.
