Pie Factory Margate

Originally a pork butchers, the Pie Factory in Margate houses an exhibition space, a pop-up shop, five long-term studios, and a cafe. It describes itself as a centre for the creative community in Margate.

There’s a full programme of exhibitions lined up over the coming months and a regular turnover of occupants in the pop-up shop.

It seems there's nothing else on here at the moment. Sorry we couldn't be more help.

Sounds like a great aspiration but, alas, the place seems to be permanently empty or undergoing repaint and we have yet to find the alleged courtyard coffee shop. The pop up shop was open as a sort of baby indoor car boot sale for an hour or two each weekend day for week or two [Maybe it was an 'art happening'?] The key to success for any retail/art space is to have clearly listed opening times and then to KEEP TO THEM. If people don’t know when, they’ll soon stop looking. For example, what the heck goes on in the nearby ‘Pharmacy’ creative space. Again, it seems to have opening times based on the phases of the moon, some mystical runes or whatever!

Thanks Chuck. I think the Pie Factory cafe is yet to open – still sourcing the pies I expect.
