The Shell Grotto
The Shell Grotto is a network of tunnels decorated with over 4.5 million shells arranged in obscure patterns and symbols. No one knows who built the tunnels or what the significance of the symbols is.
The Grotto is Thanet’s own Stonehenge, a beautiful and ancient mystery that will perhaps never be solved. Take a trip and see it for yourself. There’s probably nowhere quite like it anywhere else in the world.
