Everyone loves hurdy-gurdy music, right? The haunting sound of the Norwegian hardingfele or the Swedish nyckelharpa is as familiar to us in Thanet as the sound of the sea.
If, however, on the off chance that you are not as au fait with these instruments as everyone else, you have the opportunity to rectify matters by attending an instrumental workshop on the 5th March. The workshop will concentrate on the Nychkeharpa and hardanger fiddle and is for people at all levels of ability with the instruments. (Though presumably you, like us, are already experts on the hardanger fiddle).
There’s an evening concert the same day at the Sailor’s Church in Ramsgate featuring the Sym Trio, playing a mix of original and traditional music from Northern Europe and Scandinavia on unique resonating stringed instruments.
Of course, if you don’t fancy the Sym Trio, there’s bound to be JLS at the Winter Gardens some time soon.
For more information, contact Claire Dugue on 01843 588 470 or mail@claire-dugue.com. (Not about JLS).
