It seems that those japsters over at the Broadie (Broadstairs’ premier jocular pamphlet) do actually have a working internet connection and, what’s more, they’ve been reading IsleOne.
On page 6 of the latest issue (issue 18 for the collectors among you… is it really only 18? Seems like more), there’s a short article on our highly popular Broadstairs Old Town post from last week. That’s popular in the sense of lots of people read it, not in the sense of lots of people liked it.
But, what’s this? The Broadie are suggesting that Broadstairs Old Town should be bulldozed and a Fortnum and Mason Express built in its place. We can only hope they’re joking – or people will be getting their quills out and writing in to complain.

According to Sir Reginald on Waitrose moving to Broadstairs?
On which topic when will Locals Only’s anti-DFL screed will be nailed up on the IsleOne door?
Have you seen sight of a draft version or have you possibly taken fright at its ground-shaking implications?
I suspect more banally that LO is still in his funk hole knee deep in screwed up pieces of paper, trying to get the wording right.
We’re waiting on the first drafts which LO assures us are at the proofreading stage.
OK, thank you.
Then best all DFW’s erect some form of defensive fortifications around our houses, buy in some extra Chianti and truffles and wait for the flaming torches and pitchforks on the horizon..
So is it DFLs that are responsible for this?

Bush Telegraph, we understand the dispersal order was requested by local businesses and the chamber of commerce. Not sure of individuals’ geographical origins.
Oh right, but kid’s getting slashed or mobbed in Victoria Gardens!? Surely not a local phenomenon. Very hush hush too, mustnt scare the punters.
Like the way you segued the poohole lane and bot articles into this one Isleone. Think the Brig might like an F&M shop in Broadstairs!
I think we’ve squeezed as much as possible out of Poohole Lane.
I don’t know – I didn’t strain too much on the last one.
Even an auslander – like what I am – has to crack a smile:
“The Broadstairsharbour village idea has been put forward following the success of a similar scheme in Whitstable……Stuart Heaver from Kentish Trader Ltd is giving a presentation to the Broadstairs town forum about the possibility of a “harbour village”"

He’s stolen our idea!
I know Isleone – whats the next stage on from DFL? He’s one of those!
Just remember you read it here first.
