Thanet talent

Thursday, September 2nd, 2010

Come on, IsleOne. What kind of ridiculous image are you using this time to illustrate your so-called story? A bunch of druids, gathering round inside a stone circle for a story about some cheesy talent show in Thanet – are you completely off your online rocker?

Well, maybe, except this particular talent show is being sponsored by the Ancient Order of Druids (Thanet branch). In case you didn’t know, there’s actually been a branch of druids based in Cliftonville for over 40 years. And for your further information, they don’t do stone circles, mistletoe or bar mitzvahs (actually, that might not be druids) – they just do knees-ups and charity bashes. Apparently, druids are nothing like the pathetic stereotypical image we’ve tried to foist upon them – though that hasn’t stopped us.

This year, the druids are running a talent show in Thanet and they’ve hooked up with the Broadstairs Food Festival for the 14-18 year olds’ competition. So if you’re really good at singing or dancing or poetry or anything else, the druids would love to hear from you. You can call Heather on 01843 862519 to enter. The first heat is on 14th September so get cracking.
